betfair follows bet365 into NetEnt territory

Two major casinos sign up to provide the latest Slots

Software provider Net Entertainment (NetEnt) and online gaming behemoth betfair have signed a deal with potentially significant consequences for both firms. The deal will see betfair offering NetEnt games in its online casino – a significant coup for the Swedish developer.

This follows a similar move by rival casino bet365, which launched bet365 Vegas in April – a dedicated NetEnt Slots room.

betfair, the world´s largest internet betting exchange, was founded in the UK but is currently registered in Gibraltar. With 2013 revenue of £387m ($641.5m), almost 1 million customers, and licences to operate in Europe, Australia and the USA the deal presents an opportunity for NetEnt to expand its reach globally.

“We are very excited that betfair has selected us as a partner and I wish them a warm welcome as a customer” stated NetEnt Managing Director Björn Krantz “This agreement will further strengthen NetEnt’s exposure on the UK market but also in other parts of Europe”.

In addition to their extensive suite of casino games NetEnt also offer CasinoModule – which simplifies the back office integration between casinos and software providers. CasinoModule is designed to simplify transactions and make the user experience both more appealing and more user friendly. This reduces overhead costs and allows casinos to focus more heavily on marketing and development activities.

As part of the deal NetEnt will also work to increase its exposure in the UK gaming market, one of the world´s largest and also a major stronghold for betfair. Expansion and exposure is clearly a major theme of the deal, as both companies fight for a share of an ever growing, but highly competitive, market. Both companies will be aware of the opportunities presented by the potential legalisation of online gaming in the USA, with betfair´s licence in the country providing a springboard for future operation there.

Both NetEnt and betfair have been active in seeking out beneficial partnerships in recent years. In April 2014 Netent signed a deal with Rational group, to provide casino games for Full Tilt Poker, and had previously penned deals with online casinos Mr. Green and bet-at-home.bBetfair have also been busy and recently teamed up with Gibraltar based game development company Odobo.
