The casino with no advantage!

By | April 21, 2017

We’re always looking for the most rewarding opportunities in gaming, especially with table games – it’s common knowledge that there are many strategies and playing styles that can increase the odds in our favour. The bottom line is we’re all trying to beat the house!

Our favourite place to play is betfair’s Zero Lounge which provides a great selection of games with an almost zero house edge – they only vary in decimal points. This means the opportunities to win are much greater and offer a higher degree of fair gaming opportunities, even more so than those seen at a land-based casino.

This may not be ideal for the casino from a profit standpoint, but it is good news for those of us who enjoy Blackjack, Baccarat, Roulette, and Video Poker! All the Zero Lounge games have been modified to reduce (and almost remove) the house edge and give better odds.

Below, we look at the games currently available and how betfair has managed to improve the winning opportunities that each offers:

Zero Baccarat

Baccarat was known to offer a low house edge even before betfair released its Zero Lounge. The game provides two regular betting options and a tie bet, with the tie bet being the highest house edge in the game. When looking at the Player and Banker betting options, most casinos charge a 5% commission, and this represents the house edge. betfair has taken the house edge and decreased it to 2.75% and claim it only varies by one decimal point. This increases the payout rate close to around 100%.

Zero Blackjack

Blackjack can be tricky at times as there are various options to choose from, with the objective being to beat the dealer’s hand by only seeing one of his cards at a time. There have been a large number of strategies created that increase the odds of winning, but the house edge always remains for the house. Betfair has not altered the design or principles of the game but has added a 2 to 1 payout for a five card 21, which also increases the payout rate.

Zero Roulette

Roulette players will know the house edge in Roulette is determined by the zero and double zero in American Roulette. Payouts are 35:1, but with 37 numbers, you’ll find winning hands are not as easy as you’d think. However, with the new Betfair version, there is no zero at all! This means only numbers 1 through 36 are available and the payouts are still 35:1. This means if you cover all the numbers on the table, you won’t win or lose anything, making it 100% fair.

Zero Video Poker

Jacks or Better Video Poker is known to provide one of the highest house edges in any casino. The game offers impressive winnings and a higher jackpot for max bet players. However, the house edge is added to those winnings. Betfair has increased these to pay 4,880 coins instead of 4,000, and this increases the house edge slightly, but that’s all it needs to reach 100%.
