All hail the King of Swing

By | June 29, 2014

It’s a unique Money in the Bank night on WWE tonight and I’m expecting the King of Swing – Cesaro – to be crowned “The new WWE World Heavyweight Champion”.

This is going to be a fascinating battle, with the titles hung above the ring and the competitors having to climb up a ladder to grab the belts.

Some of the best WWE moments revolve around Tables, Ladders and Chairs matches, with bodies flying everywhere and the sound of metal crashing against flesh. You just can’t beat it, believe me.

We have found ourselves at this match due to the unfortunate injury to, fans’ favourite, Daniel Bryan. The leader of the Yes movement has had a torrid year in which every time he found himself at the top, the Authority knocked him back down. But he is a true fighter, Mr. Bryan, and his resilience in the face of adversity is part of his fan appeal. Eventually in an epic, unforgettable Wrestlemania moment, he defeated Triple H and then went on to claim the title. It was awesome!

However, he is now injured and unable to fight, hence the title is now up for grabs. Which leads us to this first ever Money in the Bank Ladder match for the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

There are 8 high powered competitors all lined up to have a go. This should be the best fight of the year bar none, with superstars, John Cena, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, Alberto Del Rio, Sheamus, Kane, Randy Orton and Cesaro, all laying claim to the be the Face of the WWE.

The 3 new kids on the block in terms of title matches are Bray Wyatt ( “He’s got the whole world in his hands”), Roman (The Shield) Reigns and of course Cesaro (The King of Swing). None of these have held the main titles and all 3 have had a rise through the ranks of monsterous proportions this year.

Wyatt has led his family into contention for the Tag team titles as well as his own Title shot. Reigns has led The Shield into some momentous battles and Cesaro won the inaugral “Andre the Giant Battle Royal” at Wrestlemania.

It is perhaps that last point that is the most pertinent here. Cesaro wasn’t in the original line up for the Battle Royal, but yet ended up winning it, a clear indication of how highly the company rates him. Following this, he has now been aligned with Paul Heyman, a man who has overseen the rise of CM Punk and Brock Lesnar, 2 great wrestlers. Again it points to Cesaro at some point soon being given a chance to fight for the Title. Tonight is that night. Can he take this chance and become “The new WWE World Heavyweight champion”? In the words of Daniel Bryan Yes, Yes, Yes!

All hail the King of Swing.
