Normally, I would be waiting for the draw to be made to see where every one is positioned but over the last few years the winners have come from all over the place. What does tend to happen now is that the jockeys act like sheep and follow the results from a previous race and throw away all their previous thoughts. It really is inconceivable to me why this occurs, if you are drawn in a position then stay there, it is very rare that switching from low to high, or vice versa, ever works. Please jockeys, stop being idiots and run in a straight(ish)line. Stop trying to be over clever.
Anyway, onto the bet. I have chosen us a horse who runs well first time out, which is important. As a 2yo in 2012, he ran second to Toronado on debut, who went on to be a high class horse. Following that he ran second to Montiridge, another that took high order in the juvenile ranks. Then as a 3yo in 2013, he won at Kempton in April on debut. He possibly hasn’t progressed as well as one could have expected, and he may be best fresh, so this race should be perfect.
The horse is trained by C. Hills, and since he has taken over the reigns from his father, he is running at a 20% strike rate with his 4yo and older horses at Doncaster, for a profit of £19 to a £1stake.
