Is that all you’ve got?

Well it is supposed to be a Saturday, but the racing has a decidedly Wednesday feel to it. There are some good races at Newbury on Channel 4 so that’s good news but as for the rest of it, well as Tony The Bookie says, “Shove it!”. Ahem.

AW Racing, Stratford and Bangor hold absolutely no interest for me and indeed there’s only one horse worth backing at Kelso – No Planning – so I won’t waste my time trying to provide information for that lot.

Mr. Winstanley, a Generalite, has written to me asking which is the most important item of form to focus on – is it the course, the distance or the going?

This is subjective, but if your horse can’t run on the going e.g it likes fast gorund and the going is soft, then that is the most important thing for me.

I would then add in the distance factor, as some horses are built for speed (as am I) and some are built for stamina (TGL wishes I was!).

Finally, the course. there are some courses that do tend to favour horses repeatedly performing well on them, Haydock, Ascot and Aintree are 3 that spring to mind, but there are other courses that it won’t matter if your horse has been there before or not.

Hope that helps you Mr. Winstanley and the rest of you Generalites.

Down to business. I have put up 4 today, 3 at Newbury and 1 over in Ireland, just to keep things interesting! Ha. Good luck and let’s keep on winning.
