After yet another rollercoaster weekend of Premier League action, in which David Moyes’ future as Manchester United manager was thrown further into question with a, frankly, embarrassing 3-0 loss at home to bitter rivals Liverpool, the pace quickens in the race for the title, European places, and to avoid the drop in this weekend’s fixtures.
The first fixture of the weekend, a lunchtime kick off on Saturday 22nd March, looks a real treat for fans everywhere, with a fierce London derby between Chelsea and Arsenal taking place at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea v Arsenal
After somewhat of a shocking result last weekend, losing 1-0 away at Aston Villa, Chelsea will be keen to immediately bounce back and get their title charge going again. Out to stop them will be Arsenal, who have trailed off a little in their quest for their first title in many years. Chelsea had two red cards in the trip to Villa Park, and ensuring they finish the game with eleven men this time out will be extremely important. If their big guns can fire again, they could beat Arsenal and re-apply pressure to the chasing pack.

Cardiff v Liverpool
Fresh off one of their biggest wins in years, 3-0 away at fierce rivals Manchester United, Liverpool will look to continue their excellent form against strugglers Cardiff. Since joining the Welsh club as manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has failed to reverse their fortunes, and relegation looks an increasingly imminent fate. If they cannot improve here, Liverpool’s lethal strike-force may just be too much for them to handle.

Man City v Fulham
Sometimes good teams have to ‘win ugly’, which is exactly what Manchester City did in their 2-0 win away at Hull last weekend. After captain Vincent Kompany was sent off early in the game, City had to show their gritty side and dig out a result against tough opposition. Since new manager Felix Magath arrived at Fulham, he has seen a slight improvement in form, however, City should be too good for the Londoners.

West Ham v Man Utd
There is no way to sugar-coat it, United were simply thrashed by Liverpool in last weekend’s derby. If manager David Moyes wishes to gain some trust from the fans, a victory in this tricky fixture could help.
