Cheltenham 2014 – Tuesday’s tips

By | March 11, 2014

As that famous song goes, “Well here’s to you Mrs Robinson, Jesus loves you just as much as he does Cheletenham” or something like that! All year we have waited for this moment and the next 4 days of top quality racing.

However, before we look at the selections, it is worth remembering that all year, we have had soft/heavy ground and now we are hitting Spring and the sun is shining. Plus at Cheltenham, you know all the horses are trying, so the formbook of 2013/2014 may be worth nothing up to now.

Be careful people, that’s what the old General says, be careful.

Let’s have a quick look at our Ante-Post bets and then we can move on to today’s selections:

Arkle – Champagne Fever 5s and Rock on Ruby 14s

Festival Handicap – Green Flag 25s (NRNB)

National Hunt Chase – O’Faolains Boy 14s (NRNB)

Queen Mother Champion Chase – Baily Green 12s (NRNB)

Queen Mother Champion Chase – Module 12s (NRNB)

Triumph Hurdle – Plinth 14/1 (NRNB)

RSA – Black Thunder 16s and Le Bec 16s

Gold Cup – Bobs Worth 2s and Cue Card 7s

Gold Cup – Last Instalment (ew) 50s (NRNB)

I think we all agree that the book is looking pretty tasty as we enter the Festival. Our confidence is high and we are expecting some nice returns over the coming week, starting with Rock On Ruby, who I think is the Bet of the week. I have no doubts about this horse’s ability to handle everything and anything that comes at him today. He is a former Champion Hurdle winner and has run well at the last 3 festivals. Make no mistake, his entire season has been geared around this race, and these connections don’t make mistakes.

And on we go, all selections this week will be quoted from Bet365, who are Fortune Palace’s chosen Cheltenham bookies.

13.30 – Gilgamboa 10s

14.40 – Alfie Sherrin 8s

15.20 – The New One 11/4

17.15 – Present View 8s
