Cheltenham 2014 – Wednesday’s tips

By | March 12, 2014

Well, not the start we had hoped for yesterday with our great hope Rock on Ruby making a horlicks of the third and putting paid to his chances. These things happen in racing and we have to take it on the chin and move on. At least we showed a nice profit on the day with Present View winning for the 2nd time in as many weeks. Those Generalites who are in the Private Circle will know the full story of this horse, and it has been a triumph for patience and planning. We have been rewarded handsomely, with 2 wins at 5s and 8s if taken at recommended prices.

I think it was fair to say that the ground dried out a little too quickly from last week, for Green Flag to show his true colours. He got outpaced down the back before running on well when stamina came to the fore. If the ground had had slightly more juice in it I’m fairly confident we would have been collecting. Never mind. The New One was also comprised with the unfortunate and fatal fall of Our Connor and again this can be marked down as an unlucky loser.

So on to today. We already have our Queen Mother selections and have no need to go in again, same with our RSA horses. I’m confident that we shall be collecting off at least 1 of them. I’m drawn to the fact that Davy Russell is booked for Party Rock in the Coral Cup. This horse loves good ground and for the first time this year, it will get it today. Forget it’s runs on bottomless going this winter, today is the day.

Finally, D. Weld is a man who can plot a horse for a year, as he has shown with Rite of Passage winning the Ascot Gold Cup. He sends over Silver Concorde for the bumper, a horse that has been favourite on every one of it’s appearances but who has only recently got it’s act together and grown up enough mentally to be thrown into the arena. I’ll be flying that plane to profitville. Come Fly with me.

All selections this week will be quoted from Bet365, who are Fortune Palace’s chosen Cheltenham bookies.

14.40 – Party Rock 20s

17.15 – Silver Concorde 14s
