It had to happen

Well. it had to happen with all of our old friends running against each other didn’t it? Mass Rally popping in at 16s but never mind, we make our choices, support them and then hope for the best. I do think that Baccarat was hampered by his draw and didn’t really give his true running.

Our other old friend Chapter Seven finally saw the ground and trip combination in his favour, but was given an awful ride by the Master of Mess up – Spencer. Watch the race again and see the race losing move he pulls off about 2f out when he switches back inside to the rails instead of following the Godolphin horse to the outside. Anyone who has seen Chapter Seven run, knows that he has a powerful long stride and needs time to wind up, he doesn’t have instant acceleration, hence to ask him with a furlong left just wasn’t enough for him. A fast finishing 3rd did not do him justice.

It was good to get our first jumps winner of the season with Handazan, a horse who looked well handicapped based on his run with Far West at Chepstow last year. The sp was very generous given the level of competition and hopefully our contacts will be providing us with lots of good winners in the coming months.

A quick mention of X Factor as Helmet is now in full Barlow mode. He thinks Nicholas McDonald is the best bet but also likes Rough Copy as an outside bet. Helmet fancies himself as a TV guru and will offer his opinion on everything from Celebrity BB. X factor and the age of the Dingle’s dog on Emmerdale!

It’s Champions day at Ascot on Saturday, not my favourite meeting if I’m honest, but maybe an opportunity will present itself with the prospect of soft ground. Well I hope you all have a good and successful betting week and I’ll be back on Saturday to enlighten you further.
