Tuesday 10th March

Finally it’s Tuesday 10th March and the start of the Cheltenham Festival 2015. At Fortune Palace we have plenty of offers for our customers and you can find details below. But to maximise these offers we need some good horses. I’ll be providing tips for all days.

Firstly, some rules that we all need to adhere to. One, remember that it is a four day festival and it’s not where you start it’s where you finish, and I’m gona finish on top! Two, it is not compulsory to bet in every race, it feels as though you have to but honestly no-one will think any worse of you if you don’t. Three, decide what kind of punter you are, do you like the short priced ones or go for the long shots. Four, if you have followed a horse, trainer or jockey all season, now is not the time to abandon them.

So now we have some ground rules, let’s get to business.

L’ami Serge has the form in the book to take the Supreme Hurdle. All of his wins this season have been boosted by the beaten horses and he has had a nice light campaign.  He has a potent turn of foot and has gone through the season looking like a top horse. Providing he handles this quicker ground then all is set for a huge run and a great start for the Generalites.

I’m going to bypass the Arkle as I’m really hoping that Un De Sceaux wins but as he is such a short price we can’t bet on him. He is the most likely winner and it would be great if we saw the birth of another superstar.

The Festival Handicap is ultra competitive and finding an edge or a way in is tough. However I’m prepared to take a chance on Gevrey Chambertain at the current prices. Last season he ran in the RSA but looked like he didn’t stay. I think it’s interesting that they are persisting with the staying route and have kept the blinkers on after they seemed to invigorate him last time.

The Champion Hurdle is another must see race but it is not a must bet race and I’m happy to sit with my feet up enjoying a beer whilst watching a great race unfold.

Again The Mares Hurdle has too many imponderables for me to get involved so I’ll swerve it.

I’ve already advised Doing Fine in the 4m National Hunt Chase and everything looks set for a big run from him.

Rounding things off is the Novice Handicap Chase and I am a big fan of Generous Ransom. The way he travelled in his last 2 races suggests he is still improving. He won well here last time and I don’t think he is overly burdened today. All in all he looks a solid betting proposition.
