Mr Hulmes is on a day trip to Cheltenham and he tells me that the weather is lovely there. So much so that he is confused in the clothing department. Does he take the mothballs off the sheepy he has had in his wardrobe for months or does he don his Ben Sherman sweater that he has had since 1984? Oh yes, difficult times indeed for the great man.

Past experience has taught me that when a boy band member is in the jungle, they tend to have a big following and are worth supporting. So on to the Fun Boy Three for Saturday, Bradley, Nadiya La Vega and Silver Eagle. All at Cheltenham and all in the big handicaps. Bradleyran 2nd in this race last year and has shown enough over this course and distance to ensure we will be supporting him. Take the 6s withLadbrokes in the 1.50pm. This could be the start of a big season for him, as he looks like a possible Grand National contender for me.
Nadiya La Vega has won on his seasonal debut for the past 4 years and with the nice weather prevailing, the ground is in better shape than last season when he ran a creditable 3rd to Al Ferof. He looks well handicapped to me and would have been well off with both Walkon and Katenko who have been withdrawn due to the faster than normal going. I advise all my friends to indulge themselves and gorge on the12s with Ladbrokes in the 2.30pm.
Finally, Silver Eagle ran up against Thomas Crapper at the last meeting here, over an inadequate 21f. With the winner going in again yesterday and Silver Eagle stepping up to a more suitable 24f, this looks like a great opportunity for him to resume winning ways.
