Keep your focus

It’s important whe betting, to keep your focus on the long term as well as the short term. In essence, when you are watvching a race, ask yourself various questions; Which horse is best suited by the pace? Did the draw affect the result? What is the ground like? Which trainers are out of form? Will some horse improve for the run? These questions can help you advance your betting and hence improve your profits.

I am currently suffering from what is technically known as a dry spell, wherein everyhting I do is wrong. Ironic really that I should hit the dry spell just as the weather turns wet! Anyway I try to keep my focus and remember the words of Martin Pipe who said “If you know what you are doing when things are going right, then the same applies even when things are going wrong.” In essence, don’t change your style just because you hit a dry spell, use your own systems to see you through it.

So onto today, it would be easy for me to say back Dank and The Fugue in a double over at the Breeders Cup. But I don’t like simple! In fact I don’t like the Breeders Cup! So I’ll pass and return to England with the wet weather and the opportunities that brings.

Today, all my selections are best price at bet365, so please log on or sign up with them and take the odds available. Let’s start atAscot with Court Minstrel in the 2.45. I believe this horse is heading towards the top of this game. He has a good record first time up and could out class these, 6s available. 3.20 is a really tricky affair with some proven handicappers and some improving chasers. This looks like a race to make a note of and follow throughout the campaign. I’m sticking with last year’s winner Roberto Goldback who is back on the same mark as last year and is another who goes well fresh, 12s available.

Over at Wetherby, I like the look of Trustan Times in the 2.0, as first time out is definitely the best time to catch him and he has improved over the summer, so I’m told by the Duke Of Fluckenburgh. Take the 3s. Then in the finale at 4.05Ardlui looks like he has a good chance to show his improvement from the flat can be carried over to the jumps, 4s looks ok to me.

Finally, we shall head over to Newmarket and show some patience as we wait until 2.20 to watch Credit Swap make amends for last year’s unlucky second in ths race. He ran a good race against Tinghir at Ascot, should improve for that run and looks like he has been laid out for this race. The 8s is a very generous offer. Snap their hands off!

As I stated earlier, all the prices quoted are with our featured bookie of the month bet365 so please ensure you have an account with them to maximise your profits. I have.
