Ante-post betting tips

By | February 26, 2014

Greetings racing fans everywhere. With just under 2 weeks to go before Cheltenham, i thought it would be appropriate to start a dedicated new page just for the festival. I shall highlight any value bets and any that look good ante post at this stage. As time draws closer and the fields firm up, we can check our bets and adjust as required.

As this is the Ante Post stage, we shall look at the horses that look to be ahead of the bookies at this point. This may be because their trainers have not confirmed which race the horse is running in, so we are taking a bit of a shot in the dark. However as we can choose the option of either a smaller price with the NRNB (Non Runner No Bet) proviso, or betting at bigger prices on Betfair, it is an exciting betting time.

2 horses are getting me excited for the Tuesday. In the Festival H’cap, I really like the look of Green Flag. Stats wise, this horse has a stand out chance. There may be 98 runners entered in this race, but that doesn’t dissuade me from placing a bet that Green Flag will turn up and win thiis race. He does hold an entry in the RSA but this looks much more winnable for him to me. Secondly in the National Hunt Chase over 4m, any progeny of Oscar is well worth supporting as they are 2 wins from just 4 representatives over the last few years. This time there is only 1 of his progeny entered – O’Faolains Boy. He again is enterd in the RSA but as his trainer won this last year with Teaforthree, then there is a precedence set there an we all know that trainers like to follow the same successful path year on year.

So to start this new chapter in Generalite history, get on board the profit train and back these 2 beautiesas outline below:

Tuesday – Festival Handicap – Green Flag 25s with William Hillbet365 (NRNB) and BetVictor. Current Betfair Exchange price: 35/1

Tuesday – National Hunt Chase – O’Faolains Boy 14s with bet365 (NRNB) Current Betfair Exchange price: 28/1
